HOPE believes that every child has the right to quality education. To realise this vision, HOPE’s Education projects projects provide holistic educational support for children at every stage of learning, from early childhood education to higher education.

Committed to inclusivity, HOPE also supports projects designed exclusively for children with special needs.

2024/25 Key Achievements
  • 5,718 children benefited from fun activity-based learning.

  • 1,585 children were enrolled in school.

  • 3,531 parents attended Parent Teacher Meetings and were informed of their children’s progress.

  • 597 children were enrolled in 8 Naboasha centres

  • 263 children were supported in 5 crèches for early childhood care and education.

  • 237 children with special needs received education support, physiotherapy, speech therapy and counselling

HOPE Crèches

This project is dedicated to the children of street-connected and slum-dwelling families where parents are often away for work, leaving children without adequate supervision. It focuses on early childhood development, creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning and well-being.

Key components of the project include parent mobilisation, school enrolment, and overall awareness.

The Creche Centres are implemented by Hope Kolkata Foundation.

Naboasha and Education on Wheels

Naboasha and Education on Wheels provide remedial coaching support for street and slum-dwelling children aged 6–18. School enrolment and school retention are the main aims of both these projects.

Community Support Groups and Child Vigilance Groups formed within these communities ensure a 24/7 safety net for the protection of child rights.

There are currently 8 Naboasha centres in Kolkata that operate within specific areas. Education on Wheels, a solar-powered bus for children exclusively in Chitpur. Both these projects are implemented by Hope Kolkata Foundation.

Inclusive Education

The Hope Foundation supports it partners to implement different projects to ensure inclusive education for children with special needs.
Integration of Quality Education to ensure improved learning in primary schools

This project ensures quality education at the primary level for all children, including children with special needs. It is a school-based project implemented in Government Primary and Government Resource Centres in Kolkata and Howrah.

This project is implemented by Hope Kolkata Foundation.

Brian’s Way Resource Centres

Brian’s Way extends special education, pre-vocational and therapy services to children with special need from underserved communities. Currently, there are 3 Brian’s Way Resource Centres in Kolkata and Howrah.

This project aims to create a barrier-free accessible environment for all children. To realise this vision, 2 centres offer a disability-friendly transport services, including a customised bus service and a toto transport service. In addition, the project extends preliminary counselling and guidance to parents and caregivers to strengthen family-based support for children with special needs.

Brian’s Way Resource Centre is implemented by Hope Kolkata Foundation.

Umeed

The Hope Foundation supports Society for Indian Children’s Welfare (SICW) to implement this early childhood intervention and care project.

Umeed extends holistic development support and therapy support for children with special needs aged 2-6 years living in the safe refuge of SICW’s residential child care unit. Children with special needs from local community can also avail of this support as per their need.

Education Sponsorship Support

This project is a community-based project that extends education support to students unable to bear educational expenses. These students often hail from underserved backgrounds with financial constraints. This education support enables school retention, continued education, and access to quality higher education.

In addition to education assistance, the project extends health and nutrition support to children in need, promoting overall well-being and long-term educational outcomes.
