A Cricket World Cup for Street Children

Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly has been named as ambassador for Team India at the Street Child Cricket World Cup, which will feature four children in HOPE's care.

Ahead of the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup, 9 teams of street girls and boys from across the world have an amazing opportunity to come to London to compete in their own Cricket World Cup event, from 30th April to 7th May. The Hope Foundation and our partner Save The Children have been invited to bring a team of street connected children to represent Team India North.

As well as being an exciting sports event that will attract global media attention, SCCWC will provide an international platform to raise awareness of, and tackle the stigma and negative treatment often faced by street connected children.

The young people selected to participate will have a unique opportunity to build their confidence, teamwork and leadership skills and, most importantly, will be given a voice for street children worldwide.

Meet The Team

Meet the four children in HOPE's care who will represent Team India North!

The children feel incredibly privileged to have been selected to take part in the SCCWC. For them, it is an opportunity to make the world look up and take notice of the plight of street children globally and the hardships they endure on a daily basis. They don't want to be pitied, they just want the opportunity to realise their full potential.

Angali is 14 years old. She wants to become a nurse or hair hostess and, if given an opportunity, she would aspire to become a cricketer.

Jabir is also 14 years old. He regularly attends cricket coaching classes and wants to become an all rounder in bowling and fielding. Cricket is his dream!

Millie is 18 years old. She dreams about a career in sports and loves to organise sporting activities in her community.

Tarak is 14 years old. He is passionate about sports and regularly attends cricket coaching. Tarak loves to play as a batsman.
